Harmonicats

Harmonicats

The Harmonicats name is well known - a trio of harmonica virtuosos at their best.

The founding members from 1944 were Jerry Murad, Al Fiore and Don Les. In early 1947 they produced a hit recording, "Peg O' My Heart", which remained on the top 10 charts for 20 weeks - 10 weeks at number one! And in the years since, "Peg" has sold 20+ million copies.

Over the years there have been several changes in the group. Although the original members have long since passed, their style still remains. Today's 'Cats, Mo Vint, Michael Burton and Danny Wilson, continue to play the old favorite arrangements of The Harmonicats, but have also added new stylings to bring them up to date with today's sounds. And they include a few comedy routines that can only be done with the harmonica... plus a few other surprises along the way. Each member, in his own right, is an accomplished musician. Their style of music brings back memories for the older generation, but the younger audience has also found a new sound and group to admire and enjoy.

The players:

Mo Vint

Long time member of Canada's foremost harmonica group, The Reeds, which also included virtuoso Bernie Bray. Later Mo joined Don Les, former bass harmonicist of The Harmonicats, in the duo The Don Les Harmonicats, which captivated audiences for over nine years. Mo is proficient on all types of harmonicas - chromatic, diatonic, chord, Harmonetta, and bass.

Michael Burton

Formerly a member of Johnny Puleo's Harmonica Gang, Michael was also an organizing member of the Original Harmonica Band, a 14-year musical/comedy association from the Los Angeles area. Michael, too, is a master of all harmonica configurations.

Danny Wilson

A former member of Jerry Murad's Harmonicats and The Don Les Harmonicats, Danny is an accomplished bass harmonicist.
